Acupressure for Hay Fever

Updated: Jul 14, 2021

It's spring again. And maybe you have, like me, an ambivalent relationship with this season. It's finally getting warm, beautiful flowers evolve, the air is full of chirping birds and one can enjoy the outdoors again. If it wasn't for my running nose, sneezing and itching eyes. Yep, it is also the season of hay fever. Every year I hope it will not hit me, but every year again I go through tons of paper tissues in this time of the year.

Here are some tips on how you can relieve hay fever symptoms using acupressure.

Acupressure Manual

There are a couple of points that will be your friend when you have hay fever.

Hold these points for 2-3 minutes with firm finger pressure several times throughout the day.

The pictures below show point location and which symptoms these points will address.

Lung 7

Bladder 2

Large Intestine 4

Large Intestine 20

Here's a video that combines 3 of these points in a massage. Great for clearing your sinuses.

It's also advisable to avoid the following foods if you are suffering hay fever: dairy products, wheat, and sugary foods.

I had also success limiting hay fever symptoms with a homeopathic remedy called cell salts/tissue salts. I am using the German brand Schüssler (Schüssler Salze), but there are also available from other brands in the US. Those are minerals that boost the immune system.

Enjoy spring, hopefully hay fever free.
